Oh my goodness – it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We attended our annual CRUK Relay for Life event this weekend just gone and whilst our feet are still swollen, blistered and aching it doesn’t go near what people with cancer go through. We had an amazing event with the sun shining on us all weekend which makes a tremendous difference.
I had so many highlights of the weekend, but one was to chat to a Cancer Research scientist who is currently working on Prostate Cancer and the links of the BRCA gene which is commonly found in breast cancer. The work they do is so valuable in finding cures for all cancers and it really is an honour to be doing fundraising for this great cause.
As you may have heard, Stuarts Property Services sponsored the Breast awareness lap and we had a vision…. The vision was to make the breast awareness ribbon shape out of people and the reality is – WE DID IT….. Look at the amazing photo that we took. Unfortunately the drone we had didn’t work on the day so we are ever hopeful that someone from an aeroplane took an aerial shot – please ask around if you know anyone that were flying into Manchester on Saturday 8th July around 5pm
The way the relayers embraced this vision was incredible and we had everyone dressed up in bras to emphasise the importance of breast awareness. Our local midwife Katy Blundell (one of our landlords daughters) gave a thorough explanation of how to check yourself, and we also announced ‘the secret’ that is that one of our landlords is producing a ‘Calendar Girls’ calendar with a group of ladies that have been through breast cancer. Two of these ladies are dear friends of mine so it is a project close to my heart to support and what a great way to announce it.
Our apprentice (and daughter) Olivia did a great job of designing breast awareness banners that we placed around our track and these really put emphasis on the importance of breast awareness too.
We are delighted to announce that our FORGET ME NOT team raised over £4500 and the event raised in excess of £36,000 (final amount to be confirmed) of which EVERY penny goes to The Manchester Institute.
If for any reason you missed our emails and still wish to donate, it’s not too late, please click on the ribbon picture here to go to our secure fundraising link to donate:-
